Prairie Appreciation Day

We went to Prairie Appreciation Day in Thurston County, Washington. Here's the link: http://www.prairieappreciationday.org/.

This event takes place once a year at Glacial Heritage Preserve, somewhat south of the Mima Mound park. This is the one day you can come enjoy the area. If you want to visit at other times of the year, just contact the folks at the above link and volunteer to pull out Scotch Broom! Make it a group activity! What could be nicer.

Here are a couple of photos, or, as the young people say, "pics."

That handsome man is holding up "brooms" made up of the Scotch Broom that is being eradicated so the prairie native habitat can flourish.

Lacey Alternative Fuel Fair

We like to go to the Lacey Alternative Fuel Fair, so we did! And got pics! And here they are!

I like the electric Harley and the electric bike. And the electric races are wonderful. T he idea is to go as many laps as you can in one hour. Very fun to watch.

They have a biodiesel in our area, piece of cake and very competitive on price. It turns out I don't need to do any conversions on my 1993 Ford F-250 diesel truck to use it, but we are going to have our mechanic change out the hoses, none-the-less.

High time to look around and smell the ethanol (yuck!). The only things that bug me are that corn tortilla prices are higher for poor people in Mexico, and that it takes A LOT of water to grow corn for ethanol, and that ain't energy neutral, amigos!

Fun with geopolitics and our consumptive lifestyle. I am enjoying my lifestyle, though! Maybe I'll rename our donkey "Biodiesel"!

Best,

Auriel
